Only One Marlin Lure
What would you consider to be your most effective lure for blue marlin? If you could only pull one lure what would it be?

I'm not quite sure after 42 year of professional fishing that I want to give up that kind of valuable information.

Most likely I will have to answer that question in parts, i.e. it would depend where I am fishing for Blues, as size or best model lure will differ from one place to another, as it would with size of targeted Blue.

My favorite lure for small or average sized Blue Marlin would be my Mini 1656 slant, or flat. True this very special classic lure takes on all contenders including giant Blue Fin Tuna. I guess what makes this lure so hot is the lengthy evolution it has been subjected to, I developed the first Mini slant in Kona Hawaii 1968, it was right off the git go, a proven winner, time and time again, catching every flag fish that came near it. Over the years I tweaked it over, and over each time getting a little more performance out of it, my latest Mini 1656 slant is my best ever, my Mini is a Mighty fish fooler that can be trolled on light, medium or heavy tackle.

My favorite lure for medium to large Blues would be my standard 1656 slant, or flat nose depending on weather. My two nose cuts on the Mini or the standard 1656 allows fishermen to fish these lures in any kind of weather. The term Classic lure means to me a lure that is here to stay through the ages worldwide; my 1656 lures are truly Classics.

My favorite lures for large Calcutta busters Blues would have to be my Bart Super Plunger, Zulu, Blue Breakfast, Kona Classic Tube, Hot Breakfast, Kona Pro Jet, Ascension Pro Jet, Grander Candy, Puerto Rico Prowler, Abaco Prowler.

My favorite spread for catching Tu Tu (Tonner) would be Extreme Breakfast short, Lunch on the long corner, Breakfast on the short outrigger, Brazil Pro Jet long outrigger, this spread would require true heavy tackle rigging, no weak links would be allowed.

Looks like I can't answer the simple question of what is my favorite lure for Blue Marlin fishing, maybe it is because if I did confide in you this deep dark secret I would have to harm you. :-)

O.K. Ill tell you, only I must rephrase the question, What would be you're favorite lure if you were alone on an Island and the only source of protein would be the fish you catch, also you could only have one lure?

I'll spell it backwards that way not everyone will catch on, CIGALEP TSAFKAERB
